How We Help

Nuevo Conocer School

In 2002, The Bolivian Children Fund began a partnership with 'OESER' = Organization in Service to the Community.

In 1990, The ‘Nuevo Conocer’ School which translates to ‘New Knowledge’ began with only one room.  Today, we have grown to over 250 children ranging from the 1st grade through to the 8th grade.  We support the students in ways such as supplying them with the school supplies they cannot afford.  We currently support 11 children with full scholarships.

In 2004, we started a computer lab with only 3 computers.  Today, we have grown the lab to 16 computers and now students from the 3rd grade and up are learning the technology and skills that will incorporate them into the 21st century.

We are growing as a school and seeing tangible results in our students graduating and pursuing secondary education programs.  We are currently setting goals to increase the number of children we help each year, and are asking people just like you to help.

For the last several years, we have purchased hundreds of books for the school’s library.  We have one of the only schools with a library around.  We are excited to report that many of the children read at least one book per month!  Our need for more books for the library is growing rapidly.  Nearly eighty children read one book per month.  We know that a child can open him or herself to a whole new world of possibility with every page of a book.
